The ISBA Policy Development Service provides review of individual board policies and school corporation policy manuals to determine the current needs for the policy manual to be updated. Other services available are:
- providing and creating sample policies on individual topics upon request;
- legal review or analysis of current policies; and
- creating and distributing sample policies on topics which the Indiana General Assembly, Indiana state agencies, the U.S. Congress, and/or federal agencies mandate local school boards adopt.
ISBA will also present short clinic sessions on policy development to a local school board or educational groups or consult in person, by phone, or by e-mail on any policy matter with individual school board members, superintendents and administrators.
The ISBA Policy Development Service also provides consultation services to determine if new policies developed by your board are legal and to help organize the school corporation policy manual.
ISBA publishes on a quarterly basis in the ISBA Journal an article containing information on board policy development, policy-related topics, and new policies required by law. It is entitled “Policy Advisor” and provides updates on required or recommended policies on an as needed basis through electronic communications.
